The Story Of Tracey And Dave

Laci's Lament

Two Act Musical by Richard Jennings

The Story of Tracey and Dave is a very personal love story within an epic tragedy with lots of good singing. The story is built out from a historical event. Just as Tracey and Dave start to trust and love, the murder of Tracey’s pregnant best friend (Laci Peterson), by her cheating husband (Dave’s best friend) throws them into a dark world. The original score could be called "Classic Pop". It may remind you of songs you heard on the radio in the 90’s. There are big numbers all around. It can be staged with eight or more actors/singers. Sets and costumes can be simple or elaborate.

The Story of Tracey and Dave is a life embracing story giving voice to emotions that run deep

to the core of what is human.

The Temptaion Of Tim

Seven Minute Pop-Synth Opera

Richard Jennings

The Devil Tries To Take Control

Of The World Wide Web At Its Creation.

She Can't Outsmart Tim

"The Temptation Of Tim" is a 7 minute Pop-Opera about Tim Berners-Lee and the creation of the World Wide Web. The music is composed in 80's pop synth style, what a computer nerd might have been listening to in 1990. It's conceived as a black box stage play for two actors performing to recorded accompaniment.

"The Temptation Of Tim" story is set at the moment of creation of the World Wide Web. It's creator,Tim Berners-Lee, struggles to find the last two keystrokes (// and #) to complete his HTML language. As his frustration rises, the Devil appears in the form of a seductress to tempt him with the information he seeks in exchange for her control of W3. She promises riches and fame, yet in a mighty battle of wits, Tim insists that W3 is "for everyone, for free". Good and evil fight mightily for control of what will become one of the biggest innovations of humankind, You'll have to see it to learn how it turns out. Just know, a lot happens in seven minutes!

The play was first produced in Berkeley as a studio video. Shortly after, "Tim" enjoyed a successful New York stage production in the Harvest Theatre Festival. It was also staged in San Francisco as part of The Dramatists Guild Of America's "Footlights Series".
